About Us

Double Six Youth Club was established in 1966 (hence the name) as a dedicated space for the young people of south Sheffield.

The club is run by trained youth workers and volunteers who offer support, guidance and activities suitable for all ages, whether they are just beginning juniors, preparing to leave college and start their adult lives.

Our youth-worker-in-charge is Richard Hay, who has led the club for over 20 years after attending as a young person himself.

Under his leadership, the quality of the facilities and services we offer to young people has grown, meaning we can now support hundreds of families across the community.

What we do

Double Six Youth Club runs three sessions every week.

We provide a safe environment for young people to meet

and socialise with new people from local schools.

Our activities include

COOKING & BAKING | MULTI-SPORTS | ARTS & CRAFTS | MUSIC ROOM | VIDEO GAMES | GROUP WORK

We also run trips and residentials to local attractions and recreation centres.

Seniors

No matter which school a young person may attend, they can meet new friends and enjoy different activities at Double Six. We provide a safe environment for young people to share what's on their mind, seek confidential advice from trained youth workers and destress from their worries in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our sessions are always informed by what young people would like to do.

Juniors

At our Juniors session, we do arts and crafts, play games, facilitate sport tournaments and encourage young people to develop friendships and  social skills.

Any young person aged between 8 and 11 can join a junior session for only £1 subs, which goes towards the upkeep of the club.

Girls Night

Once a week, our female youth worker runs a friendly inclusive girls-only session. During this session, areas of the club normally used by boys for sports or video games can be more easily accessed by the girls, and there is space to discuss topics that affect their confidence and self-esteem.
